Tomato basil bread made with buttermilk and pepper!

This tomato basil bread started with a James Beard recipe in the book "Epicurean Delight". It had some great ingredients and didn't take much time to put together. I modified it by adding some tiny yellow pear tomatoes that were growing in my container garden.Ingredients * 3 cups flour * 1/4 cup dried basil * 6-8 yellow pear tomatoes * 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper * 1 1/3 cup buttermilk * 2 Tbsp melted butter * 1/2 tsp salt * 1 1/4 tsp baking soda

Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the melted butter and mix again. Next add the buttermilk then put the dough on a floured counter and knead several times to form a nice round loaf. Cut the tiny tomatoes and and decorate the bread as you wish. Brush on some buttermilk for a nice crust and put the dough in a round cake pan. Place in a preheated 450 degree oven for 35-40 minutes, then remove to a wire rack. Now for the big decision, should you enjoy it while it's warm, or save it for a friend? Maybe a little bit of both? What a great predicament to be in! Hey, the way I see it you can make the world a better place, one loaf at a time. I think Mr. Beard would be proud.
