Pizza Sauce for your home baked pie

The pizza sauce you use at home is very important. The first few times I made pizza from scratch, I used a store bought sauce. Recently, I've turned to "American Pie" by Peter Rinehart and followed his simple recipe: 1 can (28oz.) tomato puree, 1 3/4 cups water, (all spices are dried) 1 tbsp. parsley, 2 tsp. basil, 1 tsp. oregano, 1/2 tsp. thyme, 1/2 tsp. marjoram, 1/4 tsp. black pepper, 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tbsp. garlic powder, 1/4 cup red wine vinegar, 1 tsp. salt.

Hey, it's just that simple! I mixed it up and used about 1/2 cup on last nights pizza. Then I put the rest in a pitcher in the fridge. I have 3 more dough balls for the rest of the week and do need to experiment beyond the basic pizza recipe I've been using. All this is meant to broaden our pizza loving palate and go beyong the basic marinara version - my daughter loves the taste and she is a tough customer, believe me.
