Lavender biscuits made with organic flower buds!

Lavender biscuits are made on a very special day, or anyday, really. I had been thinking about using some herbs and flowers in my baking and got some help from "The Best of Shaker Cooking". There's a recipe for Rosemary biscuits in the book taken from the Hancock Shaker Village and I decided to slightly modify it.

Let's get started: 2 cups flour, 1 Tbsp baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 3/4 cup milk, 1 egg, - here's the best part - 2 tsp organic lavender flowers.

Stir the dry ingredients together, cut in the butter, add the wet stuff. Mix lightly and roll out on a floured counter. Cut biscuits to your desired shape and size.

Put the biscuits on a sheetpan and bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes or so. When they are done, put the sheetpan on a rack to cool. Since you're all by yourself in the kitchen, now is the time to take a fresh hot treat, put some butter or jam on top and enjoy your creation. Wow, these are good!
