Brownies this good have to be shared!

If you like brownies, then this recipe is for you. To get it right, I used a recipe in "Brother Juniper's Bread Book" by Peter Rinehart. Believe me, these are killer treats that are guaranteed to elevate your social standing at home or in the workplace.

Ready to bake? OK, here we go. Mix 1 1/4 cup flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp. baking powder, 1 tsp. sea salt in a large bowl. Then add 4 eggs, which you beat until frothy before adding.

Meanwhile, melt 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp. unsalted butter. Remove from heat and add 4 oz. unsweetened bakers chocolate, stir until blended completely. Then add 1 tsp. vanilla extract to the liquid mix. Add the liquid mix to the dry and, if you like nuts, add 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans. (my kids don't like nuts, so I usually make no-nut)

My daughter likes marshmallows, so near the end of the 22 minute baking cycle at 350 degrees, I added some.

Let them cool in the pan, on a rack for 20 minutes or so, after which I always put them in the fridge to really cool down the fudgey core. (they come out really soft, take my word for it) If you make them a day ahead of time, just wrap them in foil & plastic and freeze or refrigerate them. Then all you need to do is cut the 8x8 inch pan into 16 squares and share the love!
